Over the past year, two committees, composed of both WNMU faculty and staff, put together a new athletics graduation success strategic plan and a new athletics gender equity strategic plan. To kick off the new initiatives set forth in those plans, the Western New Mexico University Department of Athletics will be launching a new marketing campaign titled “one team. one goal.” T-shirts for this campaign are now available for $5.00 each.

WNMU sophomore suffered a disappointing triple bogey 7 on her final hole to shoot 81 and let last year's champion, Kayla Cline, into the winner's circle for the second straight year in the Sun Country Women's Amateur Sunday in Socorro. WNMU sophomore Haley Raymond fired a 3-over 75 to take the first round lead in the Sun Country Amateur Women's Championship Saturday in Socorro. The inaugural event is being contested over a difficult par-72 New Mexico Tech Golf Course. Tech is a difficult layout for most, but Raymond used her home course knowledge in the Championship as she calls Socorro home. She made her way around the track with five bogeys and two birdies to lead by one shot.
Head football coach Adam Clark connected with another former St. Ambrose University coach to help complete his coaching staff. Ronnie McDougle, who will work with the defensive backs at WNMU, was with the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees for the 2007 season – the same season Clark was the team’s defensive coordinator. Most recently, McDougle was a graduate assistant at the University of South Dakota. His focus was defensive backs and wide receivers.
