Register Now For 5th Annual Mustang Stampede

The Western New Mexico cross country teams will be holding their 5th Annual Mustang Stampede on Sunday, April 5, 2009 on the WNMU campus.

The two-mile walk race will begin at 8:00 a.m. The five-kilometer run will follow at 8:15 a.m. Both races will begin and end at the WNMU PE Complex.

All participants must register. Race day registration is from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. The entry fee to participate is $15.00. All proceeds will go to the WNMU cross country team. Each participant will receive a Mustang Stampede t-shirt the day of the race, and fluids will be provided on the course and at the finish line.

An awards presentation will immediately follow the “stampede”. Trophies will be presented to the top three overall male and female runners. A trophy will also be awarded to the top male and female walker. Medals will be given to the top three male runners and walkers and female runners and walkers in each category.

Steven Maxwell
Men's Golf
Junior Steven Maxwell (Glasgow, Scotland, Bearsden Academy) stayed very consistent on the par 70, 6,510-yard layout at the Coyote Classic hosted by CSU-San Bernardino last week. On day one, he was tied for 13th thanks to a 1-above par 71. He repeated that same performance when they concluded round two on day two. In the final round of play, also on day two, Maxwell tacked on one extra stroke to finish with a three-round total 214. He finished tied for 18th in the 80-player field. Overall, the men’s golf team finished sixth at the classic.
