From Eagle to Dragon to Mustang; Manfredi Hired as Assistant Coach

New Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Michelle Manfredi
The WNMU women’s basketball team and first-year head coach Greg Adams have announced the hiring of new assistant coach Michelle Manfredi on Monday.
“I am excited to have Michelle join the Western New Mexico coaching staff,” says Adams. “She will bring a level of passion and energy that will help the young women in our program on and off the court. Her accomplishments as a player and her abilities to function as a leader on the teams she participated with will undoubtedly be an asset to our program.”
Manfredi spent last season overseas playing for the QTSV Dragons in Quakenbruck, Germany, where she was a team captain and starter. She finished the 2009 season averaging 12 points and nine rebounds while playing the most minutes in the league.
As a student-athlete, Manfredi had a very successful four years at Niagara University in New York. The four-year starter and three-year captain was named the team’s Most Valuable Player twice and Best Defensive Player three times. She capped off her senior year with 6.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game to lead the team. She also chipped in with almost seven points per game. She currently holds the university’s record for the most games played.
Manfredi graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.
Prior to joining the Purple Eagles, Manfredi attended Serra Catholic High School in Pennsylvania. She finished her interscholastic career with 1350 points and two Daily News Player of the Year awards. She also tabbed First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-State her junior year and First Team All-Conference and First Team All-State her senior year.
Manfredi will assist Adams in recruiting, on-court coaching, scouting, game and practice preparation, and overseeing the academic progress of student-athletes. She will also assist with the coordination of practices, budget management, games management, scheduling, and travel.
