Two new women join the tennis team in 2009.
Sara Nogan (Albuquerque, NM/Cibola High School) will be an incoming freshman from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Vanessa Molina (El Paso, TX/Franklin High School) (El Paso, TX) will be a junior after transferring from Tyler Junior College where she played two years.
Nogan is a 2009 graduate of Cibola High School. As a Cougar, she played no. 1 and was ranked in the top 25 of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) southwest section. “Sara is the top recruit from New Mexico this year,” says head coach Erik Burton. “She brings a competitive up and coming game style to our experienced Mustang lineup. She will definitely add depth and junior experience in our match play.
Nogan intends to major in education.
Molina played on a national championship team. In 2008, Tyler Junior College was the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) team runner-up. In 2009, they were named champions. “Vanessa has national championship experiences and brings endurance and a strong forehand to the court,” comments Burton. “She will definitely have a solid role in the Mustang lineup.”
Molina will enter the pre-med program at Western New Mexico.
