Men's Tennis Faces Tough Competition

Junior Yair Banuelos
The Mustangs got off to a tough start with back-to-back days versus very strong Division I opponents. Today WNMU took on the University of Texas – Pan American Broncs. The Broncs pulled out the victory, 7-0.

Yair Banuelos (Mexico City, Mexico, Universidal del Valle de Mexico, Riverside Community College), the Mustangs No. 1 singles player, faced a top-50 Division I player. The newcomer had several set points to win the second set but eventually faded as Vijayragavan of UTPA won several key points to pull out the 6-1, 6-4 victory.

“I was very happy with our singles play,” says head coach Erik Burton. “The team did well at this level this weekend, and we look forward to continuing our strong season versus UCSD on March 10th in San Diego.”
