The WNMU women's team had a tough time handling the No. 17 UC San Diego Tritons Wednesday. The Mustangs were skunked, 9-0. For the Tritons, it was the first sweep of 2010. This was the Mustangs' fourth loss of the season.
In the doubles portion, the Tritons defeated the Mustangs by a combined score of 24-1.
“UCSD stayed strong throughout the whole match, not giving WNMU too many chances,” says assistant coach Carolina Hannes.

Vanessa Molina (El Paso, TX, Franklin High School, Tyler Junior College) almost won the first set in singles but let her opponent came back after being up 3-1. She ended up losing in two straight sets, 6-4 and 6-0.
“Unfortunately, the team wasn't able to pull through and gets some wins today. We did not play as hard and as well we can and that definitely hurt us on the important points. However, we are looking forward to come strong tomorrow morning against Hilo and hopefully get one more win this season,” concludes Hannes.
