The WNMU men's golf team finished sixth at the Coyote Classic Tuesday. Junior
Steven Maxwell (Glasgow, Scotland, Bearsden Academy) stayed very consistent on the par 70, 6,510-yard layout with two rounds of 71 and the final round at 72. He finished tied for 18th in the 80-player field.
Cal State Monterey Bay played the best golf over the three rounds to earn the team title at 8-over par. Third-ranked Chico State and top-ranked Barry were three strokes back at 11-over, three strokes better than fourth place Sonoma State.
Cal State San Bernardino's Gene Webster stole the show with his astounding 14-under par 69-63-64–196.
Senior
Scott Crichton (Dalgety Bay, Scotland, Inverkeithing High School) moved up in the standings on day two with a strong third round when he shot 68. He finished the tournament just one stroke behind Maxwell with a 215.
Joon Lee (Seoul, South Korea, Guildford Park Secondary) tied for 25th (72-71-71 – 216) while
Eric Chavez (Las Cruces, NM, Mayfield High School, New Mexico State University) posted 224, good for a tie at 52nd.
Zach Blair (Roswell, NM, Roswell High School) started the tournament strong with a 73 in the first round but struggled the remaining rounds to finish tied for 67th at 230.
