Mustangs Remain 12th

Top-ranked Nova Southeastern is in total command after the second round of the four-round NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships at the par 71, 6,159-yard Longbow Golf Club Thursday. The WNMU Mustangs remain in 12th place despite shaving off five shots from Wednesday's score (349-344).

NSU shot 1-over-par 285 and have a two-day total of 583 (+15). The defending national champions have a 29-stroke lead over Rollins. The third-ranked Tars equaled their Wednesday total with a round of 306.

No. 5 Tarleton State is four shots (616) behind Rollins and two ahead of No. 13 Sonoma State (618) and three ahead of No. 4 Florida Southern (619).

NSU is being led by Sandra Changkija. She shot 4-under-par 67 Thursday, the best round of the tournament, and is 1-under-par (74-67 – 141) after 36 holes. The Sharks have four golfers in the top 10.

Changkija trails overall leader Maria Luz Besio of Newberry College by two strokes. Besio followed up an opening round even-par 71 with a 3-under-par 68 Thursday.

The Mustangs have failed to produce a score lower than an 84. Glynnis Price (Shiprock, NM, Shiprock High School, University of New Mexico) posted an 84 in today's round to come in with a 169 over the two days and 60th place.

Third round action gets underway Friday with initial tee times set for 7:30 a.m.
