COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five Western New Mexico University football players were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic teams Monday that was announced by the conference office.
Redshirt-freshman
Zayde Khalil (Murrieta, CA/Vista Murrieta) and junior
Jarret Yargus (Bagdad, AZ/Bagdad HS) were named to the Second-Team. Khalil has played in each game along the offensive line and has helped power The Mustang attack. The rushing game has accumulated 1,094 yards and 12 touchdowns, while the aerial attack has gone for 2,319 yards and 22 touchdowns. The offensive line has also limited the opposition to just six sacks in seven games. Yargus has played and started in every game this season, tallying 18 total tackles, four solo, along with 3.5 tackles for a loss of 24 yards, 2.5 sacks for a loss of 22 yards and one quarterback hurry.

Moises Barragan (Palm Springs/Palms Springs HS) and sophomore linebacker
Mike Rand (Willcox, AZ/Willcox HS) were named to the Honor Roll.
Butler has seen action in four games on special teams. Barragan has played a few games on the defensive line and Rand has played in two games this season on special teams
WNMU returns home this Saturday when they host Adams State with kickoff set for 12 p.m. inside Altamirano Field.
