COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Seniors Heather Rux (Cottonwood, AZ/Mingus Union High School) and Ziona Verhulsdonk (Kailua, HI/Hawaii Preparatory Academy) were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic squads Monday that was announced by the conference office.


Rux was named to the First-Team, as she holds a 3.94 GPA in math. She was named to the First-Team last season. This season, she leads the team in blocks with 55, including nine solo blocks, while also adding 116 kills, 10 assists, seven service aces  and 20 digs in 70 sets played.


Verhulsdonk was named to the Honor Roll with a 3.67 GPA in accounting. She also made the Honor Roll squad last year. This season, she has played in all 78 sets posting 169 kills, 32 assists, two service aces, 32 digs and is second on the team in total blocks with 40, including four solo.


WNMU will look to keep their streak going of three wins when they host No. 12 Colorado School of Mines on Friday at 7 p.m. inside Drag's Court.
