Figueroa Named to All-RMAC Academic Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western New Mexico University men's cross country runner Luis Figueroa (Avondale, AZ/) was named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team that was announced Wednesday.


Figueroa holds a 3.48 GPA and is majoring in chemistry. The senior from Avondale, Ariz., competed in each meet this season and was named to the honor roll squad.


He opened the season placing 31st at the Rust Buster in Colorado Springs. He posted one of the top times at the NMHU Jamboree, placing in the top-five. After placing 18th at the Grand Canyon Invitational, he grabbed 44th at the RMAC Championships and 38th at the South Central Regional. Throughout the season he was the Mustangs' top runner and placer.

 
 To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their GPA is cumulative, prior to cross country season beginning.
