Rodrigo Almeida (Arapongas, Brazil/Nene Lourenco High School) has been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Almeida continued his dominance in conference play steamrolling his way to a perfect 5-0 record playing at the top flight in singles and also went undefeated playing one match at No .1 and the others at No. 2 in doubles competition. He won all of his singles matches in straight sets and went 6-0 in conference play for both singles and doubles. He is now 18-2 on the season in singles match, with an 11-game win streak and is a perfect 8-0 at No. 1. He is 11-10 in doubles and is on a six-match win streak with partner Jean Benoit Belin (Nimes, France/Emmanuel d'Alzon High School).
Of the eight weeks that the award has been issued, five times a Mustang has claimed it with the other one going to Jean Benoit Belin (Nimes, France/Emmanuel d'Alzon High School) at the start of the season.
After facing New Mexico State today in Las Cruces, the Mustangs will head up I-25 to compete in the RMAC Tournament that will begin Friday in Denver. The men have a first round bye as the top seed and will face the winner of the CSU-Pueblo/Metro State matchup later in the afternoon on Friday.
