Sumpter Selected to Beyond Sports Network All-America Team

Markis Sumpter collected yet another honor being named to the BSN Preseason squad.
LEESBURG, Va. – Western New Mexico University senior wide receiver Markis Sumpter (Oceanside, CA/Fallbrook High School) (Oceanside, Calif.) was named to the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Preseason All-America Team landing on the honorable mention squad.


Sumpter was named a First-Team All-RMAC selection this past season, coming in fourth in the conference in receptions per game (5.7), third in receiving yards per game (69.9), and led the conference in receiving touchdowns with 11. His 769 yards receiving ranked him second overall in the conference, while his 63 receptions was good for third.


The Mustangs will open the 2012 season on Sep. 1 at Sul Ross in Alpine, Tex. The first home game for WNMU will take place on Sep. 15 against defending RMAC champion CSU-Pueblo.
