Gray Named RMAC/Baden Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Senior Jelesia Gray (Sierra Vista, AZ/Buena High School) was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Baden Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference Monday.

In a home split against Black Hills State (L, 70-63) and Chadron State (W, 72-44), Gray controlled the paint for the Lady Mustangs in the two games this past weekend. She led the team in all major defensive categories, collecting 12 rebounds, 10 on the defensive end, eight steals and two blocks. Gray rebounded well in both games, grabbing six and five defensive caroms in each contest. She had a solid effort against Chadron State, swiping six steals and coming away with a block. She also contributed on the offensive end, scoring seven against Black Hills State and six against Chadron State.

In eight games this season, Gray is third on the team in points per game (9.9), while also shooting over 43 percent from the floor and averaging 6.3 rebounds per contest.

The Lady Mustangs will return to action this Saturday at New Mexico Highlands beginning at 1 p.m.
