COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Women's Basketball senior
Morgan Wohltman (Queen Creek, AZ/Highland High School) received one of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Degree Completion Awards this summer after submitting an essay, along with other paperwork before the committee.
Wohltman, from Queen Creek, Ariz., will earn up to $2,000 per semester to help her complete her coursework. All selected applicants must complete their degree by the end of the summer 2013-14 term.
Wohltman had a dominating senior season for the Lady Mustangs, leading the team in almost every offensive category including points per game (14.9), assists (52), three-pointers (55), field goals (143) and minutes played per contest (34.7). She led the team in scoring in 13 games throughout the season, with her season high of 25 coming on Feb. 23 at Colorado Mines. She also was a force on the defensive end, leading the team in steals (41), and blocks (24), while also pulling down 3.2 rebounds per game as she started all 26 games.
“It is an honor to be receiving this award,” Wohltman said. “It will help me financially to finish out my last year at WNMU. I am blessed the RMAC selected me for this scholarship and now I don't have to worry so much about how to play for my final year of school. This award is helping me achieve my goal of becoming a college graduate and earn my degree in business management.”
She was named to the All-RMAC Second-Team and was also named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 11.
Her 387 points this season ranks her seventh in the career statistics (since 1999-2000) at WNMU for points in a single season, while her 822 career points is third on that list.
