barr 1
Junior Kristina Barr
Kristina Barr (San Diego, CA, La Costa Canyon High School, Central Community College) is now in a class of her own. On Thursday, the 2009 Daktronics All-American Softball Team was announced. Barr found her way onto the Second Team. With only four more sports to be announced by Daktronics, Barr, so far, is the lone Mustang to earn a place on their All-American teams this season.

Barr played and started in every game this season (48-48) at shortstop. She finished the season towards the top of nearly every RMAC hitting category. She was fourth in batting average with .480, second in slugging percentage at .908, number two in on base percentage with .534, ninth in hits with 73, fourth in homeruns with 16, and number five in total bases with 138. Defensively, Barr posted 114 assists.

In addition, Barr led the Mustangs in nearly every category including 50 RBIs.

Two record-setting players representing the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference garnered the top honors on the 2009 Daktronics, Inc., All-America team, as Lock Haven pitcher Kristen Erb landed the "Pitcher of the Year" award for the third consecutive season and Kutztown first baseman Steph Denlinger was chosen as the national "Player of the Year" on the squad that is voted on by sports information directors in NCAA Division II.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The online nomination and voting processes are powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM.
