WNMU senior-to-be Scott Crichton (Dalgety Bay, Scotland/Inverkeithing High School) (Dalgety Bay, Scotland) got out early and posted a two-under-par 70 to take the first round lead the Scottish Youths National Championship at Renfrew Golf Club Thursday. Crichton, an All-American selection for WNMU in 2008 and was All-Region this year, carries a one-shot lead into Friday's second round. WNMU teammate Steven Maxwell (Glasgow, Scotland/Bearsden Academy) (Glasgow, Scotland) is also in the field and tied for 45th after a first round opening of 77.
