Western New Mexico's women's golf team turned in a solid 322 Saturday and is tied for fifth place in the 19-team, predominately Division I, Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Arizona. Hosted over a challenging par-72 Robert Trent Jones designed Oak Creek Country by Northern Arizona University, the Red Rocks features 17 Division I programs in addition to WNMU and Grand Canyon.
Cal Poly blistered the course with an impressive 307 Saturday and holds a five-shot advantage over host NAU. Eastern Michigan and the University of Montana are tied for third. WNMU, UC-Riverside, and the University of Portland are tied for fifth, 15 shots off the lead.
Junior
Glynnis Price (Shiprock, NM, Shiprock High School, New Mexico State) is tied for twelfth after firing 78 Saturday. NAU's Aleah Kim and Cal Poly's Kristen Locke shot 75 to lead the 106-player field.
Carissa Schwalm (Las Cruces, NM, Mayfield High School) is tied for 21st with nine others after an 80 while freshmen
Faylyn Beyale (Fruitland, NM, Kirtland Central High School),
Megan Downey (Glendale, AZ, Sandra Day O'Connor High School), and
Haley Raymond (Socorro, NM, Socorro High School) all shot 82.
