COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western New Mexico University softball seniors
Kaitlynn Barnes (Phoenix, AZ/Deer Valley High School) and
Ashly Eichenberger (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon High School) were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Barnes was named to the All-RMAC first-team, as well as the All-RMAC Academic first-team as she holds a 3.62 GPA and is majoring in nursing. Her .460 batting average ranks third in the conference and 16th nationally. She ranked 17th in the nation in terms of home runs (15) and 11th in the nation in terms of RBI per game at 1.25. She also collected three triples and led the team with 12 stolen bases. She played in 48 games, starting 47 behind home plate. The Phoenix, Ariz., native was named to the Preseason All-RMAC Team and this is the fourth straight year she has been named to the All-RMAC Team.
Eichenberger led the Mustangs in batting average (.463) and ranked second in the conference and ranks 13
th in the nation. She is second on the team in doubles (17) and RBI (50), while hitting 10 home runs, collecting a triple and three steals, while playing and starting at second base in all 53 games this season. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native was named to the first-team RMAC squad last year.
WNMU went 16-37 this past season and posted an 11-29 record in the RMAC. They finished the season splitting a four-game series at CSU-Pueblo.
