Friman, Metz Named to All-RMAC Academic Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western New Mexico University men's golfers Anders Friman (Stockholm, Sweden/Hersby Gymnasium) and David Metz (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS) were named to the All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Teams as announced by the conference office.


Friman, already a recipient of the Summit Award for having the highest GPA, was named to the First-Team. The senior from Stockholm, Sweden, holds a 3.95 GPA and is majoring in business. Last season, Friman averaged 81.4 in 22 rounds and was a Second-Team All-Academic selection. He has seen action in four tournaments this season.


Metz, a junior from Tucson, Ariz., was named to the Second-Team as he holds a 3.34 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice. This season, Metz played a total of 32 rounds in 11 tournaments, carding a 75.09 scoring average. He led the team at the RMAC #2 placing in a tie for 12th. He tied for ninth at the Midwestern State Invitational.


WNMU will continue their season this coming week when they will participate in the NCAA Division II West/South Central Super Regional in Dupont, Wash., at the Home Course that begins Monday, May 6.
